News shared by the Isle of Wight Council about activities and food for children:
HAF is back for Christmas 2024!
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme is funded by the Department for Education. It allows local authorities to provide nutritious meals and engaging activities during school holidays for children who receive income-related free school meals. A limited number of places are also available on HAF schemes for other vulnerable families. Further information on HAF and eligibility can be found on the holiday activities pages.
This Christmas our programme includes the introduction of some new, exciting activities alongside the return of some of our most popular ones. All activities are delivered by specialist coaches and include:
- animal care
- horse riding
- arts and crafts
- day trips
- football
- skateboarding
- multi sports
- musical theatre
- theatre outings
All the sessions provide a hot, nutritious meal or a substantial packed lunch for day trips and where possible, providers encourage the children to get involved in preparing and serving food as part of the overall experience.
Full details including booking information can be found on the Isle of Wight Family Information Hub.
