Additional Information
I was delighted to join Ventnor Town Council, having been elected to represent St Lawrence in July 2023. I have lived in Ventnor for 25 years and on the Island all my life. I want to see a progressive Ventnor Town Council that supports local public services and community organisations, invests in the town and works alongside local businesses. We live in a beautiful town and I will strive to make it even better. I fully support local initiatives such as Baby Box, Ventnor Community Pantry, Ventnor Community Foodbank and the Wellbeing café. I am an active member of the British Legion and a committed Trade Unionist. I work as a Public Sector Accountant and want to see value for money in all of the services that we provide in Ventnor.
It is also important to recognise the distinct communities covered by VTC. St Lawrence very much has its own characteristics, community, environment and challenges. Access to services is very important and I am working to improve the local no 31 bus service.
The recent landslips in both Bonchurch and St Lawrence have had a devastating impact on our communities and VTC will need to work with the IW Council, Island Roads and other agencies to meet these environmental challenges. We need major funding and investment to protect our town and environment for the future.
I currently hold monthly Councillor Surgeries in St Lawrence Parish Church to hear the views of local residents directly and pursue issues where I can. These sessions will be advertised locally and I look forward to meeting and talking to all of you.
