Ventnor RFC kicked off their league season by travelling to Pompey with our 1sts narrowly losing to Portsmouth’s 2nd XV and OUR 2nds coming from behind to beat their 3rd XV.
There were tries from Sam Lines (2) and Lewis ‘Jewy’ Jones for the 1sts and Harry Ottley, Dan M, Gav Davis and Ben Cooper for the 2nds. Fred Fairman and The Rev Warren Riches were successful with the conversions.
There was some great rugby on view which spoke volumes for quality of the training sessions throughout the summer. Remarkably Ventnor took forty players to Portsmouth and everyone got time on the field including league debutants, Ewan Castle, Olly Wood, Dylan Gray and Will Broomfield.
Next Saturday, both teams travel to Wootton where we will be hoping for a repeat of the double achieved at the end of last season. Maybe See you there!
