Ventnor Friends of Wight Horticulture

We are a small Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO 1174751) based in Ventnor and run by volunteers. We have members from all areas of the Island and on the mainland and we are proud to have Mike Fitt OBE, FCIHort, FCMI as our President.

We have a shared love of gardens and the natural environment and a proud record of achievement since our formation in 1987. The aims of ‘The Friends’ are now to promote education in botany, horticulture, ecology and environmental science across the Isle of Wight

We do this by organizing educational and social events including talks, walks, outings and workshops.

  • An important focus of our work is the Simon Goodenough Bursary Scheme to provide encouragement and support for people pursuing a career in horticulture.
  • Recognising the importance and value of open spaces, we offer support for appropriate projects which advance mental and physical health and well-being in parks and gardens on the Island.
